According to the Centers for Disease Control, autism affects about 1 in 54 children in the US today. Autism, or ASD, is a spectrum disorder, meaning that autism may impact individuals differently. Each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. Since the ways in which autism influences people vary, different levels of autism exist on a spectrum. Some people with ASD may require significant support, whereas others might need less help or even live independently. This broad range of characteristics can involve challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and non verbal communication.
In order to learn more about how to communicate or interact with people with autism, here is a quick list of facts about autism that can help.
